CyclOps Winter School 2026
CeADAR recently presented at the CyclOps Winter School on Knowledge-based
Systems and Data Spaces, that took place on the 12–14 January 2026 in Bolzano, Italy.
Julia Palma, CeADAR’s Programme Manager, gave two presentations at the Winter School,
the first on Impactful and Future-Proof Research followed by Building Trustworthy Systems
from the Inside Out.
The Winter School is organised as part of the CyclOps project, an EU-funded initiative
focused on the use of semantic technologies and knowledge-based systems to support
interoperable data sharing across Europe. CeADAR is one of 13 partners on the project.
Addressing Practical Challenges in Data Sharing
As organisations across Europe increasingly share data across sectors and borders, a key
challenge remains how that data is structured and understood. Differences in terminology,
formats, and meaning can limit reuse, even when technical infrastructure is in place.
Knowledge-based systems offer practical tools to address this. Using shared vocabularies,
ontologies, and structured representations, they make it easier for data from different
sources to be aligned and reused in a consistent way.
The CyclOps Winter School focuses on these approaches and how they are applied in the
context of European Data Spaces.
