CeADAR was delighted to take part in the UCD Institute of Food and Health, Food Horizons event: Data, AI and the Food Chain.

The event was chaired by Director of UCD Institute of Food and Health, Eileen Gibney.

Julia Palma of CeADAR explored applied AI showing how CeADAR provides the link between research and implementation, with examples from a broad range of case studies including research conducted for Skillnet Ireland: Digitalisation of the Food and Drink Industry in Ireland report.

Brian Mac Namee of Insight Research Ireland Centre for Data Analytics gave a brief introduction and overview of AI research.

This was followed by a case study of applied AI from Rob Redford of Nuritas, showing how AI can be used for ingredient discovery.

The event was closed with a panel discussion that highlighted that companies want to adopt AI and are looking for guidance to integrate AI correctly.

CeADAR’s European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH) for AI programme was sign-posted as an opportunity for companies and public sector to take the first step to explore the benefits of AI.
