CAMEO – Online Platform of Earth Observation Data

This ongoing project is developing a platform to leverage Earth Observation Data across four main categories – Agriculture, Climate, Forestry and Marine.

CeADAR’s current focus, under the ‘Climate’ banner, is to develop an early flood warning system for communities at risk of severe flooding. Researchers have used data collected by the European Space Agency’s Sentinel-1 satellite to map historical flooding events in flood-prone areas of Ireland & Texas. The maps were then fed into an AI model designed to predict the extent of future flooding events in those areas, and researchers said the model is accurate up to a distance of approximately 20 metres.
