Call for New Board Members – CeADAR Industrial Advisory Board (IAB)

CeADAR is seeking 6 new members to join its Industry Advisory Board.
This is an excellent opportunity for experienced industry professionals and leaders to contribute to the development of the centre and its mission of supporting Ireland in being a leading AI enabled nation.
Sectoral experience is sought in each of the following areas, where it is expected that one person per sector will be appointed.
1. VC Investment (International)
2. Sustainable Food Production: Emphasising agri-food innovation, including
biotechnology and sustainable practices.
3. Marine and Renewable Energy: Developing offshore and onshore
renewable energy solutions, as well as marine resources.
4. Digital Technologies: Fostering advancements in ICT, including data
analytics, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence.
5. Manufacturing and Materials: Enhancing capabilities in advanced
manufacturing processes and materials science.
6. Environmental Sustainability: Focusing on green technologies and
solutions that promote environmental protection and resource efficiency.
About CeADAR
CeADAR, based at UCD in Dublin is an Enterprise Ireland and IDA funded
technology centre with a national and international remit. CeADAR supports
companies and organisations across Ireland to explore, experiment, and build
innovative AI solutions into processes and products, focussing on transforming productivity, competitiveness, digitalisation and sustainability. Increasing adoption of
AI by industry is a key aim.
CeADAR currently has around 55 data scientists on staff, with plans to significantly expand this number.

CeADAR is looking to greatly expand its operations to deliver significant impact
across Ireland.
The Industrial Advisory Board
The Industrial Advisory Board (IAB) for CeADAR (the Centre) serves as a strategic
advisory body that provides guidance and support to the Centre’s leadership. The
Board ensures that the Centre’s activities align with industry needs, funder and host
university priorities, and national economic and policy objectives. The Board also
fosters collaboration between the Centre, industry, academia, and government to
enhance the impact of AI-driven innovations on national competitiveness and productivity.
The Industrial Steering Board
• Advises on the strategic direction of the Centre to ensure alignment with
market needs and industry trends, particularly in sectors prioritized by national strategy (e.g., Health, Digital, Food, and Sustainability).
• Provides insights on emerging challenges and opportunities in AI, ensuring
the Centre remains at the forefront of technological advancements.
• Assists in identifying and securing new opportunities for industrial
partnerships, collaboration, and funding.
• Supports the Centre’s educational initiatives by advising on skills development
and workforce training relevant to industry.
• Evaluates the effectiveness of the Centre’s industry engagement strategies
and recommend improvements.
• Advises on the application and translation of AI research and innovation into
commercially viable solutions.
• Assists in assessing the relevance of proposed projects and initiatives with
regard to industry priorities and national innovation goals.
Information for Applicants
Appointments will typically last for two years, with the possibility of reappointment for an additional term.
Members are not remunerated.
Commitment
• The Board will meet at least 4 times per year, with additional meetings
scheduled as necessary.
• The board may establish working groups as it see fit, to consider specific
issues in more depth.
Conflicts of Interest
Members of the Industrial Advisory Board are expected to act in the best interests of
the Centre and to maintain the highest standards of integrity and impartiality.
Members must disclose any actual, perceived, or potential conflicts of interest that could influence, or appear to influence, their ability to provide objective advice or act in the best interest of the Centre. Such disclosures should be made at the earliest
opportunity, either in writing or during a board meeting, and recorded in the minutes.
Where a conflict of interest arises, the member may be required to recuse
themselves from discussions or decisions relating to the matter at hand.
Decision-Making
The Board will serve in an advisory capacity, providing non-binding
recommendations to the Centre’s leadership. Decision-making will be by consensus whenever possible. If consensus cannot be reached, a majority vote will be used, with the Chairperson having the casting vote in the event of a tie.
Confidentiality
Board members are expected to maintain the confidentiality of all sensitive
information discussed during meetings, particularly as it relates to proprietary
technologies, commercial strategies, and government policy.

Applications will be accepted up to the end of April 30th
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to interview by a panel of board
members in mid-May, with appointment expected to start around 1st June.
