CeADAR’s role in shaping the global conversation on AI governance was highlighted this month at the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) 2025, held in Oslo, Norway, and virtually. As a Steering Committee member of the GlobAIpol Global AI Research Policy Network, CeADAR contributed to the development of the AI Policy Research Roadmap, which was unveiled during a dedicated roundtable session.
The session, titled WS #288 – An AI Policy Research Roadmap for Evidence-Based AI Policy, took place on June 26 and brought together a multi-stakeholder panel to examine how AI policy research can support ethical and inclusive AI governance.
This roundtable was built upon the outcomes of the AI Policy Research Summit held in Stockholm in 2024. The session was moderated by Isadora Hellegren and Tatjana Titareva (AI Policy Lab), and featured speakers Virginia Dignum, AI Policy Lab, Hon. Neema K. Lugangira, Parliament of Tanzania, Jason Tucker, Institute for Futures Studies and AI Policy Lab, Alex Moltzau, European AI Office of the European Commission, as well as Eltjo Poort, CGI.
As a co-author of the Roadmap, CeADAR actively participated in discussions aimed at connecting research, policymaking, and industry practices. The Roadmap outlines key priorities for ensuring AI development is evidence-based, transparent, and accountable, offering concrete tools:
- A community of practice to sustain ongoing collaboration across innovators, including small or underrepresented players, civil society, academia, and government.
- A research agenda emphasising rigorous evidence in policy recommendations: from participatory methods involving all stakeholders, to transparency assessments.
- Capacity‑building initiatives to link global principles with real-world community needs.
The full Roadmap is now open for public endorsement and can be viewed at the AI Policy Lab’s official site: https://aipolicylab.se/news-and-events/ai-policy-summit/roadmap-for-ai-policy-research/
